Quick answers
Do I have to charge sales tax?
It depends on your state and what you sell: services are often exempt, goods usually aren’t. If you collect sales tax, tick "Charge sales tax" and enter your combined state and local rate. Check with your state’s revenue department or your accountant.
What should an invoice include?
Your business name and contact details, the customer’s name, an invoice number and date, a due date, each item with quantity and price, any tax, the total, and how to pay.
Can I make a quote or estimate instead?
Yes. Choose "Quote" as the type. The due date becomes "Valid until" and the heading changes to Quote.
Is my information stored anywhere?
Only in your own browser, so your details are ready next time. Nothing is sent to us. Use "Clear all" to remove it.
